Diving into a Unusual Steam Demo: Guiding a Turdy Character on a Quest to Reach the Toilet

Steam Next Fest is currently underway, and gamers have found a variety of entertaining indie games. However, one catches the eye for its quirky concept. Named Unko Technica, this old-school styled platformer includes a hero that is actually a turd attempting to navigate to a commode. As a fun fact, "Unko" translates to "poop."

How you interact is simple: just use a jump control. Throughout numerous levels, encounter tough enemies and visit a store to buy outfits for your fecal avatar.

Plan your movements precisely, since one error means starting over. Bounce on floating orbs to launch the poop higher, traverse disappearing surfaces, and activate buttons to reveal secret routes. Gather currency to purchase more difficult game content in which gameplay ramps up.

In terms of design, the game shows off eye-catching level designs and an amazing soundtrack. Its minimalist visual style of moving abstract forms may remind fans of beloved games like Earthbound.

Although tough to recall similar titles where you are a dung character, interactive entertainment often featured toilet humor. As an illustration, in Death Stranding, players create explosives from protagonist waste. Examples include Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved employ feces as soil enrichment. Unsurprisingly, this theme appears a lot in the role-playing game The Stick of Truth.

Despite its humorous idea, Unko Technica has already garnered notable accolades, including winning at a major publisher's game competition in 2023. This trial version is available currently on Steam, with the full game set to arrive on computers on November 19.
